Overview
Drywall Repair & Texture Matching done properly
A bad patch is more obvious than the hole was. It shows as a flat spot in a textured wall, a halo where the paint sat differently, or a ridge you only see when the afternoon light rakes across it. Getting one to disappear is a matter of cutting the damage back to something square, floating the compound wide enough, and matching the texture that is already there.
We repair nail pops, door-knob holes, furniture damage, hairline settlement cracks, corner bead damage, ceiling stains and cut-outs left behind by plumbers and electricians — then prime and paint so the repair blends instead of announcing itself. Most of this work happens alongside an interior repaint, but we are happy to do repairs on their own.
Humidity, settlement and Lowcountry ceilings
Two things generate most of the drywall repair work in this area. The first is moisture — roof and plumbing leaks, condensation around poorly insulated ductwork, and bathrooms that never fully dry out in August. The second is movement: homes on the coastal plain settle, and hairline cracks reliably reappear at door and window corners and along ceiling seams.
Where a crack is a movement crack rather than a one-off, we say so, and we treat it accordingly — because filling it flat and painting over it means seeing it again the next time the season turns.
How we work
Our Drywall Repair Process
No surprises. This is the order the job runs in, and what each stage is actually for.
- 1
Find the cause first
A ceiling stain or a recurring crack usually has a reason. We look for the source and tell you what we find — patching over an active leak just buys a few months.
- 2
Cut back to sound material
Damage is cut back square to solid board, backing is added where the opening needs support, and a patch is fitted rather than packed with compound.
- 3
Tape and float
Joints taped, then compound floated in progressively wider coats and sanded between them so the repair feathers out to nothing instead of sitting proud of the wall.
- 4
Match the texture
Orange peel, knockdown, skip trowel or smooth — the surrounding texture is matched by hand and eye, checked in raking light before it dries.
- 5
Prime the repair
Fresh compound drinks paint at a different rate than the wall around it. Priming the patch is what stops the flat, dull halo that gives a repair away.
- 6
Paint and blend
Repainted to the nearest natural break — a corner, a wall, a ceiling plane — so the finished result reads as one continuous surface.
What you get
Why homeowners book us for it
The things that make the difference on a drywall repair job — and the things that get skipped when a price looks too good.
Texture matched by hand
Knockdown and orange peel are matched to the existing pattern and density, not sprayed on to a factory setting and hoped for.
Water damage handled honestly
Stains are sealed with a stain-blocking primer so they cannot ghost back through the finish — but only after the source has been addressed.
Repair and repaint from one crew
No coordinating a drywall contractor and then a painter. The same people who float the patch put the finish coat on it.
Dust kept in one room
Openings masked off and surfaces covered before sanding starts, because drywall dust travels through a whole house otherwise.
Photos of this service
Our published project photography does not yet include a drywall repair job, and we would rather show you nothing than show you somebody else’s work. The portfolio has our real exterior, deck, dock and finish-carpentry photos — and our Facebook and TikTok feeds get new job photos as they happen.

Drywall Repair & Texture Matching FAQs
What homeowners ask before booking drywall repair.
In most cases, yes. Knockdown, orange peel and hand-troweled textures can all be matched. We will tell you honestly at the estimate if a ceiling is better off being refinished corner to corner than spot-repaired.
That is the whole objective. Floating the compound wide, matching the texture and priming the patch before painting is what makes a repair disappear under normal light.
Yes. We prime the repair and paint out to a natural break so the color and sheen are continuous.
